Finally, school was over for the day. Tessa didn't know how much more homework she could take; surely there was a limit to it? A heavy sigh went through her. She was knew in this town, and so far hadn't met anyone who seemed friendly really. Not that she wasn't used to being alone, even at her old school, she had been shunned. In some ways, she wanted this, in other ways she didn't.

Tessa really didn't want to go home, but where else could she really go? Inspiration hit her in a moment; the park. Easily backing out of the semi-crowded student parking lot, she found herself taking the usual route to the park. It was a peaceful thing, stripping away the tension that everyone had put onto her throughout the day. Stopping, she climbed out of her blood red Eclipse, and made sure she locked it. Her step parents would kill her if she lost it; but they would only worry about the car. That was always what they worried about; never her.

Taking an empty path, she watched as a few stray leaves blew up in the path, creating a mini tornado right in front of her. Reminds me of my life. Never peaceful. Tess thought sadly, as the leaves left the path. It was deep in the woods, amazing, but also a bit disturbing, at least, to most people. Today however, she welcomed the peace and quiet of the woods, hands in her pockets.

Although very sure footed, Tess found herself watching her step. It wouldn't be very good to break an ankle where she was, draggin herself back would be painful, and hard to explain. They never understood why she needed to be alone; never understood anything. Long ago, she had stopped telling them. It was about that time she had stopped trusting anyone.

Not that she didn't have a reason not to trust anyone; her parents had left her at a vunerable age, after all the abusing and what not. Most kids would react the same; but Tess reacted badly. She was anti-social, and reserved. It took a lot of time to even get her to talk openly to you. Tess used to have friends, a long time ago. Not anymore, they had all left, or just faded away to the back of her mind.
